What I Made Monday: The Rainbow Connection

I like to browse the internet for cute printables to add to my monthly decor. While I was looking for something cute for St. Patrick's Day, I came across this. I loved the idea, but I thought, "How much cuter would it be if I used REAL buttons?" Plus, I have an abundance of colored buttons, which I inherited from my mom when she moved and cleaned out her craft room (thanks, Mom!).

An hour later, this was the result:

I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. The perfectionist in me cringes a little that the semi-circles aren't perfectly round...but isn't the beauty of something in its imperfections? (Say yes.)

Papa Songs

When I was growing up, my dad would sing to me and each of my siblings every night. He had a small repertoire of songs--Disney songs, Primary songs, and a few others--and we each got to choose one, even if we shared a room. It is one of my favorite memories of my childhood. Now that I have my own little ones, I've started to sing them a song every night as well. At first, I mostly sang Primary songs (typically the ones we were working on for the Primary program to help Kyle learn the words), but a little while ago I decided to introduce the boys to some of the songs my dad sang to me. They absolutely loved it, and now every night I sing them each a "Papa song" before they go to sleep.

They've even started singing along with me. I'm posting this video for the audio, because there's not actually anything to see. But, it's Lucas singing his favorite "Papa song" with me, and it melts my heart every time I hear it.

I'm so glad I have the opportunity to pass this tradition on to my children. I hope it brings them as much joy as it brought me as a child.
